Chain Reaction

For some time now, I have been a proud Ambassador of Australian based charity, the Chain Reaction Challenge Foundation.  This wonderful organisation has raised over $20 million for children’s charities since 2007, and with two small children of my own, their cause is close to my heart.

Chain Reaction is Australia’s preeminent corporate charity bike challenge, hosting events in each of Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland.  Each event challenges participants to ride 1,000km in seven days through some of Australia’s most picturesque locations.  In 2013, Chain Reaction also hosted their first women’s only event, which challenged female riders to take on a 300km in three days course in Victoria.

Chain Reaction is not a mass-participation event; instead concentrating on selected individuals who have a passion for cycling, a desire for a physical and mental challenge, and importantly, an awareness of their corporate and social responsibilities.

Chain Reaction’s impressive fundraising model is the reason why the Foundation has been able to raise such incredible sums of money for children’s charities.  It challenges participants to use their standing in the business community to encourage corporate support of the events, with riders also being challenged to look to their personal networks for individual sponsorship.
